Nigeria to stop importation of six commodities by 2018 -Minister

Hajiya aisha Abubakar, the minister of state for Trade and Industry, on Wednesday disclosed that the Federal Government would stop the importation of six commodities by 2018.

Abubakar disclosed this in an interactive session with entrepreneurs and prospective investors participating in the Katsina State Economic and investment summit in Katsina.

The minister said the commodities where rice, wheat, sugar, cotton, tomato paste and processed meat.

She said Nigeria would stop the importation of cotton and other commodities to ensure self sufficiency for textiles and garment manufacturers in the country. The minister stressed that the present administration was committed to the production of these two commodities in Nigeria.
Abubakar said the country had no business importing the six commodities as they were abundant in Nigeria.

In his remarks the Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state called on prospective investors to come up with workable plans that could simplify the states investment process and eliminate its bottlenecks.

Masari assured welders and fabricators of his administrations readiness to provide land for the establishment of business clusters for them. He added that the government would continue to patronize made in Katsina goods, services and local contractors.

The Governor said he had directed local contractors to purchase roofing sheets and paints from markets withing katsina state.

Masari said a large portion of land in Katsina had been allocated to the Federal ministry of communication for the establishment of a National incubation center. He disclosed further that eight vocational training centers were been rehabilitated to empower youths to become self reliant.

How DSS official was Set ablaze in Delta State

Details have emerged how a school drop out in his late twenties allegedly poured fuel on an official of the Department of State Services and set him ablaze at Oghara, Delta state.

The victim Andrew Maduku, aged 43 and a father of four,is an indigene of Oghara, attached to the DSS office in Bayelsa state. And was said to have died as a result to 86 degree burns sustained from the attack.
Recounting how the incident occurred,the brother to the victim, Felix Maduku said: 'My brother assailant doused him in fuel and set him on fire,for scolding the suspect for pointing rays from a torch on his face as he walked home.

Refusing to put of the torch, my brother walked up to him and slapped him, leading to a fight between my brother and his assailant,who was accompanied by his friends.

Speaking further; he said like every law abiding citizen my brother reported the matter at the Oghara police station and was accompanied with my brother to the resident of the suspect. On sighting the Policemen, the suspect fled leading to the seizure of his laptop by the police.

On April 24, the suspect who had been stalking my brother, poured fuel on him and immediately set him ablaze, leading to the death of my brother as a result of 86 degrees of burns sustained from the incident.

Speaking on the matter, a police source at the Oghara police station said the suspect involved in the incident went into hiding, But the suspect has been arrested and is currently undergoing thorough interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Asaba. hmmm wonders shall never end o, how can one be so wicked

FG removes subsidy, petrol to sell for 145 Naira per litre

The Federal Government has finally removed subsidy from the sale of Premium motor Spirit,PMS known as petrol with immediate effect.
NNPC sources yesterday afternoon said marketers are now free to bring in cargos and sell, subject to meeting standard quality control

It however added that a benchmark of N145 per litre as a recommended pump price,at which any trader,irrespective of source of foreign exchange used to import cargo is guarantied adequate profit

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has banned all forms of discriminatory practices in the provision of electronic payment service. This was one of the highlights of two revised guidelines relating to e-payment services issued by the apex bank on Friday.

ICE federal agent,42, fatally shoots himself at Chelsea's Hudson River Park

A ICE federal agent fatally shoots himself in the head at waterfront Chelsea park in New York Friday.

The 42 year old U.S immigration and custom enforcement deportation officer shot himself with a 40 caliber service pistol inside Pier 40 in Hudson River Park at around 11am
 A source at the scene described how the officer calmly walked into the park,took out his pistol and shot himself in the head. He was rushed to Lenox hospital but doctors were unable to save him according to news gathered by BIB, ICE released a statement Friday afternoon: 'Tragically, a U.S. immigration and custom Enforcement deportation officer from the New York field office suffered a self -inflicted gunshot wound and has passed away.'
it added: 'the agency is not releasing further details pending notification of the officers next of kin.
'ICE's office of Professional Responsibility is reviewing the matter and coordinating with the New York Police Department on the investigation.'
The agent worked at a field office in lower Manhattan, just blocks away from the scene of the shooting.
Pier 40, on 353 West Street is home to the New York Nights of American National Rugby League and the primary offices of the Hudson River Park Trust.
There were also several soccer fields as well as the Trapeze School of New York.

Physicians from the Mayo clinic in Arizona analysed six studies that showed the effects of meat and vegetarian diets on mortality. Primary care physicians were then given evidence based guidance about whether they should discourage patients from eating meat. Mexican drug lord El Chapo transferred from a maximum-security prison to a jail near the Texas border

Drug lord 'El Chapo' Guzman was transferred to a prison in northern Mexico near the Texas border early this morning. Oldest WW II veteran dies at 110

The oldest world war II veteran, Frank Levingston,died May 3. he was 110. reports gathered that Levingston had spent his last two days at the VA hospital in Shreveport, Louisana.

Levingston was born Nov.13,1905, one of seven children, and grew up in northern Louisiana,according to reports gathered, a search on the world war II  registry shows he serve in Europe and participated in thr Naples-Foggia campaign in Italy which lasted from september 1943 to January 1944. He was honourably dischargedfrom the Army in 1945. In December 2015,Levingston traveled from Lousiana to Washington D.C. to be part of the Pearl Harbour ceremony at the World War II Memorial and a visit to the White house. Reports gathered by BIB that Levingston was never married and had no children.

Justin Bieber Sued for 100k Usd

The singer is accused of destroying Robert Earl Morgan's mobile phone when he tried to record footage of him attempting to chug a beer bong, he is been sued for 100,000 Us dollars, over claims he smashed up a mobile phone,according to reports from the US.

The incident took place at the Cle nightclub, Houston, Texas last month, according to the lawsuit filed by Morgan and obtained by TMZ, Justin became "enraged,grabbed his cell phone and smashed it to pieces. He is suing for such a large amount because the phone contains a large amount of impossible to replace pictures, including those of his grandmother's 100th birthday party and up to 5000 images and videos from his travels.

Morgan also claimed he lost a number of business contacts when the phone was destroyed.

When Teebillz shared his suicide note this morning on IG while pouring his heart out about the demise of his marriage to Tiwa Savage, many of us thought/hoped he was just talking, but he wasn’t. Tunji ‘Teebillz’ Balogun tried to commit suicide this morning by jumping off the Lekki- Ikoyi toll bridge and this is fact!

According to an eye-witness named Chukwuma Ani, who witnessed the incident and was one of the men who pulled Teebillz off the bridge, Ani stated that around past 9 this morning while driving on the Lekki-Ikoyi toll bridge, a car hit his own from behind, damaging his car. He said he came out of the car and approached the driver of the vehicle that hit his. He didn’t know who the man was (it was Teebillz) but he said he berated him for hitting his car and asked the man to come out and assess the damage caused to his car. The man looked at him and told him to leave…that he was there for a reason. That he was planning to commit suicide and Chukwuma Ani would hear about it later…

Not knowing who the guy was or understanding why he was talking suicide, Mr Ani said he kept insisting that the driver must come down from his car and see the damage he had caused to his car. He said he noticed alcohol on the floor of the driver’s car so thought the man was drunk. He said while shouting and berating the driver for hitting his car, the guy just suddenly drove his car with speed to the front.

Ani said he got into his own car and gave chase and was surprised to see the driver of the car parking his car in the middle of the bridge as other cars drove past. He said he parked in front of the driver and approached the man again, telling him that he couldn’t even apologize for hitting his car and was instead trying to drive off. He said as he was berating the man, he (Teebillz) got down from his car and walked to the bridge railing.

He said he stood there wondering what the driver was trying to do and it was at that point that two other cars approached them. He said as he was trying to figure out who the new comers were, Teebillz had moved to the bridge railing and was trying to jump. Mr. Ani said a light skinned guy came out from the first car and began running towards Teebillz screaming and that was when he realized what was going on..

“I thought I was watching a movie” ,the man held the railing and tried to jump over it and that was when the yellow man held him and started shouting for help. The two of them nearly fell into the water. I quickly joined the yellow man to pull the guy out and while we were struggling with him, one PSquare twin (Peter Okoye) and Banky W joined us to pull the man out ”

We hear Teebillz is doing okay now and is surrounded by family and friends. People need to take depression seriously in Nigeria – a lot of people are so depressed and struggling and don’t usually have anywhere to turn to for help. Let’s always lend a helping hand. Hope Teebillz gets better
