Man stabs twin brother to death while sleeping

A 27 year old man, Mfon John, has stabbed his brother, Israel John, to death on Olorunkemi street, Somolu area of Lagos state.

BIB gathered that Mfon stab the brother more than 70 times on different parts of the body on Monday, Although no one could state the immediate cause of the incident, as relatives and residents in the vicinity had said Mfon had always threaten to kill his brother Israel any time they had disagreements.

He was said to have carried out the threat around 6 am, while Israel was asleep and the third occupant in the room was in the kitchen. The Akwa-Ibom state indigene reportedly stabbed his brother in the neck,Armpit,head and stomach till he died.

He was said to have fled to Ogunbadejo, a neighboring street to report to his uncle that his brother had sustained injuries during a fight. Our correspondence gather that he followed his uncle and the wife to the house at about 7am, on getting there a team of Policemen from the Pedro division where just removing the corpse and Christopher who happened to be the third occupant in the house was being interrogated. On sighting Mfon, he pointed out the culprit to the Policemen and Mfon was arrested.
A neighbour, Bidemi, told reporters that the two brothers had danced together on Sunday night after they bought a generator.
He said,"the room they stayed was formerly occupied by their elder brother, and passed it to the sister, after living there for some years she passed it on to them.

Both brothers worked at a restaurant which belonged to their brother, in the Abiodun Area, Mfon cooked the meals while Israel washed plates

A relative who refused to disclose her identity said after killing his brother, the suspect went to his uncles house where she also stays to report the matter, She explained that Mfon was panicky but was trying not to indict himself, adding that she thought it was their usual fight.

We asked him what happen, and he explained that there was a fight in the house and his brother sustained injuries. As we approached the house we saw two Police vans, and then they brought out the body that was covered with wrapper

Christopher reported that he was roasting groundnut in the kitchen that was when Mfon killed his brother,he said he never knew what was happening until he came into the room and saw Israel in a pool of blood

The elder brother of the duo,said they had been a thorn in his flesh, he said since he brought them from the village.
He brought them from the village so their mother could have rest of mind, he said he planned setting up businesses for them, but since he brought them to Lagos, its been one trouble to another, he has not had rest, he stated further that he doesn't know how to break the news to their mother in the village.

It was gathered that the corpse of the victim had been deposited to the Mainland General Hospital morgue, while the suspect had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.
